Remembrance Day

Two children from school and their parents went to the Remebrance Day Service at Christchurch Allonby on Sunday November 12th  to lay crosses in memory of brave local soldiers that went to war. Mr Owen also laid a cross on behalf of the whole school.

Operation Christmas Child

Every year we fill shoeboxes to donate to the Operation Christmas Child appeal run by the Samaritans Purse. We encourage the children to get involved with this project to highlight the fact that not all children are lucky enough to receive presents at Christmas. This year we managed to collect 8 boxes.  On Friday 10th November a volunteer from the Charity came to pick up our boxes.

Unfortunately the heavens decided to open just as we stepped outside so the photographs are very random!!

Sports Day 2017

We all had a lovely time.  Everyone joined in, even the teachers.

London 2017 - 9th June

Four of our children attended the London Residential this June with Mr Owen. They joined with St Michaels School of Bothel and St Matthews of Westnewton. A brilliant time was had by all. The girls were a credit to the school. Well done to all of you! A big thank you to St Matthews for organising.

Visit to Campfield Marsh 3rd July 2017

On the 3rd July the whole school visited Camp Field Marsh to learn about habitats. We had a fantastic day looking and wild flowers, boggy marsh land and insects. We even did a bit of pond dipping!

Residential - Derwentwater May 2017

On the 18th May, KS2 ventured forth with Mr Owen and Mrs Walker for a 1 night residential to Derwentwater. We had a fantastic time, the weather was sunny, the Youth Hostel was fabulous - particularly the food and the activities were great fun. We were sad to leave this special place!

Easter Fair & Celebrations Assembly 2017

Whole School visit to Morrissons

On Mondy 13th of February, the whole school visited Morrisons in Workington to have a tour of the store and learn about where our food comes from. We had a really interesting visit looking at all the different fruits, cheeses and fresh fish. Mrs Fearon even tried an oyster!

Morrisons very kindly sent us back to school with a load of different fruits from all over the world to try from passion fruit to a pomelo. Thank you to all the Morrisons staff for their enthusiasm and kindness today. The children even made pizza in the bakery to take home!

NSPCC 'How to keep yourself safe' workshop

On Friday February 10th, a representative from the NSPCC came into school to deliver a series of workshops to the children on 'How to Keep yourself safe'. The children met Buddy the cuddly toy tadpole and learnt about how to keep themselves safe and who to talk to if they were feeling sad or frightened.

Chinese New Year - Year of the Rooster

On Friday 3rd of February Mr Hart (one of our school governors), came in and made a Chinese banquet for us all! He made numerous dishes including sweet and sour chicken, dim sun, slow cooked belly pork and beef with peppers. We also tried prawn crackers and lychees! We had fun trying to use chopsticks and at the end of the session, Mrs Walker gave us all a fortune cookie!

To celebrate Chinese New Year, we also made chinese lanterns and roosters
